"CENTER FOR REHABILITATION, PHYSICAL THERAPY AND INCLUSIVE TRAINING NAMED AFTER OF SAINT RIGHTEOUS JOHN”
Problems to be solved by the project
This is a large-scale project aimed at providing comprehensive assistance to children with disabilities and their families, involving the local community and using the concept of inclusiveness - the inclusion of people with disabilities in active public life..
The center is a two-storey building in Podgorodnoye (Dnipropetrovsk region) with medical, social, sports and recreational infrastructure facilities on the adjacent territory of 0.5 hectares.
Target audience: children with neurological diseases and musculoskeletal problems. The services of the Center will also be used by local residents, primarily children.
Why is this project important:
Only in the Dnepropetrovsk region there are about 12,000 children with disabilities, of which about 1,000 children are diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The “Pomogaem” Foundation annually pays for medical rehabilitation for 50 children with neurological diseases, in particular cerebral palsy. However, all effective rehabilitation programs are carried out in remote regions - 200-1000 km from the city of Dnipro. Thus, children with their parents need to spend time on the road and additional funds for travel expenses and accommodation in other cities, not counting the payment for the rehabilitation itself.
Therefore, we decided to create our own Rehabilitation Center, which would take into account the needs of both children with disabilities and their parents, and was aimed at working with the whole family, while actively involving the local community in the implementation of the project, in order to increase inclusiveness in society and improve the socialization of children and youth with disabilities.
